Interviste

Cari TwitMixers,
oggi per voi l’intervista esclusiva che ha rilasciato Rebecca Perl al TwitMix Project.

Venite a scoprire più da vicino questa meravigliosa artista newyorkese.

Qui troverete l’intervista originale.

– Do you remember the moment when you met music for the first time?

Yes, I remember the many moments when music was brought into my life! I grew up in a very musical family, so I was being taught the nature of music from a very young age. There was never a time where my family get togethers didn’t consist of guitar playing and singing. I began playing the piano and violin, moved onto the french horn (I know, what a switch) and finally picked up the guitar at age 13 after watching others play it for years! I’m not so sure why it took me so long.

– You conquered New York City. And I’m sure you will do the same here in Italy. Talk us about you and your band.

I play in a band with a saxophonist and a bassist. After playing with several musicians, I learned exactly what artist I wanted to be and have luckily found the right people to share my musical world with. Mark Phillips is a sax player from Melbourne, Australia and Tim Caro is a bassist from Long Island, NY. They are extremely talented! To me, guitar, sax and bass create such an interesting sound when played together. We get each other as people and as musicians and when you have that relationship you can only do great things! I think we’ve formed something really special and we all can’t wait to see what the future holds.

– Your new EP is superb! It reaches the deepest part of the soul. Why don’t you talk about its tracks? We love Before I fall, it’s so fresh and romantic as well!

Thank you! Each song on my new EP comes from a real place. They are real and relatable stories and I can only hope I can create that connection between my music and my fans; lyrically and musically. They are both just as important as the other. I’m a 23 year old girl experiencing the ups and downs of life and love! But I see the cup as being half full and bringing something good to a bad situation is key. You’ll find that in my music. The song “Before I Fall” is such an easy song to relate to. When you love someone or something but you’ve lost them, you hope they come back one more time, even though it may not be the best thing for you. This song is about walking away from those thoughts and taking care of yourself. I find that to be a continuous theme in my life right now.

– Can you define ‘music’?

Hmm, I don’t know if I can define music in just one sense of the word. Music is a lifestyle! I live music, I don’t just play it. I feel music, I don’t just listen to it.

– What are your Projects for the future? Will you come to perform here in Italy?

Will you fly me over to Italy today? I’ll come!! I hope to get over there one day, it would be a dream to come play for you guys. Right now I am writing some new music and working on a full album!

– Do you want to leave a message to our TwitMixers?
